Tourism Malaysia has said it will increase its promotional activities in India as part of its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign. The goal is to bring 33% more Indian tourists to Malaysia.
According to Malaysian National News Agency BERNAMA, this plan comes at a time when India is growing quickly and has become one of Malaysia’s key tourism markets. Malaysia’s visa-free entry for Indian travellers has also helped boost visits.
Last year, the number of Indian tourists visiting Malaysia rose by 14.6%, reaching about 1.5 million people. Officials expect this number to go beyond two million by 2026. There are also 240 flights every week between Malaysia and major Indian cities, making travel easier.
Nawal Fadhilah Ku Azmi, a senior director at Tourism Malaysia, said that many Indian tourists are now exploring places outside Kuala Lumpur and are more interested in different activities across the country.
Tourism is an important industry for Malaysia. It helps improve cultural and economic ties between countries, including members of the BRICS group, and supports stronger regional cooperation.
